COVER CROP FIELD DAY-March 28th at 10 am
*Come and learn about the importance of cover crops in a soil health system. Hans Kok from the CCSI will be speaking, followed by an open discussion. The cover crop field day will be just north of the Columbus Airport on 550 N.

Nutrient Management Workshop: July 30th. Farmers learned about the benefits of nutrient management during a drought.




First Annual Tree Giveaway!
April 27, 2012 (Arbor Day) at the Bartholomew County SWCD Office at 4:30pm
Trees were given away on a first-come, first-serve basis (Limit 5 per person)
Species that were available: Red Oak--White Oak--Tulip--Norway Spruce--Silver Maple
We collected toy donations for the Columbus Firemen's Cheer Fund during the tree giveaway. Donations were not required to receive a tree, however they were greatly appreciated!
The CheerFund received many donations! Thank you so much!

2012 Annual Meeting
Our 2012 Annual Meeting was a huge success! The SWCD partnered with the Purdue Extension office to put on the Annual Meeting. Both organizations presented their Annual Reports which included events and happenings through the year 2011.
McDowell Learning Center at the Outdoor Lab- October 2011
(English as a 2nd Language class)
At the Outdoor Lab, students learned about backyard conservation while we made pinecone birdfeeders.
Students also learned about different products that are made from corn and soybeans, while enjoying a bonfire, s'mores, and the great outdoors!
County 4-H Fair- July 2011
The theme for our booth at the fair was backyard conservation.
We gave away a rain barrel and a composter to two lucky winners!
